Honor the memory and the music of Henri Dutilleux. This is the objective of the musical festival named after the composer, which will take place on October 23, 24 and 25, in different places in Chinonais: the community hall in Cinais, the Rabelais space in Chinon, or the auditorium of Huismes. Initially scheduled for May, the festival had to be postponed due to the health situation.
A link between his repertoire and creation
“In each concert, one or more works by
reference of Henri Dutilleux but also of the musical repertoire, like Beethoven or Maurice Ravel, for example”, begins Jean-Loup Graton, the artistic director of the festival. But also, the latter will be punctuated by several appointments over the three days: symphonic concerts, a study day, or even electroacoustic installations will come to animate the holding of the festival, in a spirit of openness, dear to the deceased. composer. "We are trying, through this festival, to create a link and a filiation between the repertoire of Henri Dutilleux and creation, with young composers who explore various fields", explains Jean-Loup Graton. Before adding: "He was very attentive to everything that was happening around him and really liked jazz, song... He had a very open mind and that's really the idea that we want. transmit during the festival".
Precisely, in order to find links with Henri Dutilleux, the festival management has worked to offer various activities: after the concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings, a jazz rendezvous is planned at the Café Français in Chinon, in order to extend the evening. But also, since Henri Dutilleux had the reputation of being a bon vivant, a partnership was set up with the Caves Painctes de Chinon, to introduce spectators to a concert-tasting. "Between each piece of repertoire will take place a tasting", specifies the artistic director. A musical and gastronomic moment, then. Impossible to mention Henri Dutilleux without mentioning his wife, Geneviève Joy. This great pianist has notably taught at the National Conservatory of Music (CNSM) and one of her students, Jean-François Heisser, will also be at the helm of the Friday evening concert. “We are always in the extension and transmission, essential things in the life of the couple”, comments Jean-Loup Graton. On Saturday, the Espace Rabelais in Chinon will host, during an exceptional concert, the symphony orchestra of the Republican Guard, for the first time under the direction of a woman, Kanako Abe. Women are honored since cellist Sonia Wieder Atherton and soprano Donatienne Michel-Dansac will also perform. Always in the desire to go towards today's musicians and composers, in the "Dutilleux spirit".
